Trainings can vary in length and will be customized to your particular needs. An initial consultation to determine your organization's needs will be conducted, then the appropriate training length and content specific to the coalition/organization will be determined. Training that is more informational and educational in nature will be shorter in length, while those involving skill set development and practice generally require at least three hours or more to achieve stated goals. Trainings include assessing local and state issues and finding collaborative solutions that utilize evidence-based strategies. Learn to become a successful advocate and a savvy strategist so you can stand up, speak out, and help create healthier and safer Texas communities.Texans Standing Tall is contracted with Coordinated Training Services (CTS) to provide training to Department of State Health Services Community Coalition (CCP) grantees and Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG) grantees.Training services include assessing local and state issues and finding collaborative solutions that utilize evidenced-based strategies. The following professional development topics can be tailored to meet local and community needs:
Focus on methods to bring groups together and choose commonalities that will assist everyone involved in achieving individual and collective goals.
Participants learn all aspects of strategic planning, from assessing needs and developing clear goals to mobilizing community participation.
Recruiting and Sustaining Membership
Participants will learn the intricacies of developing and sustaining members, as well as how to draft a membership plan.
An interactive workshop where participants will learn the skills and knowledge to effectively work with the media. Participants will draft a media plan and be prepared to use it.
Participants will learn the methods to develop relationships with policy and decision-makers and how to effectively educate them on your issues.
For coalitions with funding from the Texas Department of State Health Services, trainings can be requested free of charge through Coordinated Training Services. For all other coalitions, agencies, or individuals, TST provides trainings on a sliding scale depending upon the ability to pay for the services. coalitions and individuals may request training and strategic consulting by filling out the request for training or technical assistance forms.
